Last weekend, we decided to visit the Mitsukoshi Mall after hearing about its soft opening. It is the first-ever Japanese mall in the Philippines, and it comes from a popular department store chain that is homegrown in Japan. It is located in the 8th Avenue, The Seasons Residences, BGC, Taguig City near Uptown Mall. It stands proudly amidst the city in a very accessible location. 🏙
🎌 AMBIANCE & INTERIOR
Upon entering Mitsukoshi Mall, you’ll be greeted with a variety of Japanese-inspired exhibits and displays which you can interact with and take photos of. There is also a photo wall featuring Japanese art that entices guests upon their entrance. The inside of the mall looks pretty much like a department store, with various stalls and kiosks scattered inside and with little to no open space. 🛒
🏪 STORES & BRANDS
Since it’s only their soft opening, lots of stores are still closed or currently being constructed. However, there is a huge diversity of stores that are predominantly Japanese brands coupled with local and international ones. These include a huge branch of Fully Booked located in the second floor and is fully-stocked with books, along with a section of Daiso that is situated near the escalator of the second floor. I enjoyed sifting through famous Japanese snacks such as Hello Kitty biscuits and Pocky sticks which come in bundles and promotional deals. 🍡🈲
🍥 MALL TOUR OOTD
A cozy yet casual outfit is perhaps the best way to go for visiting a newly-opened mall. Since one doesn’t know much about a place’s layout and environment, it’s important to be on the safe side and prioritize both comfort and style. With this, I simply opted for a statement tee and highwaist trousers, along with a pair of white sneakers. To somehow elevate the look, I decided to wear a collared vest as my inner top to achieve an old-school laidback vibe. 🇯🇵♥️
